Reskilling for the Future of Work

Mohit Rajhans appeared on CHCH-TV to discuss his book "Reskilling for the Future of Work," highlighting the urgency for Canadians to adapt to rapid technological change by building new, relevant skills. On the CHCH Morning Live segment, Rajhans emphasized that the future of work is already here and that reskilling is about removing intimidation by approaching new tech as learnable and essential, not just for those early in their career but for everyone. He quoted a recent Microsoft survey stating that 75% of employees feel they are already using new skills without formal training, and that by next year, according to the World Economic Forum, 50% of employees will need some form of reskilling. He encouraged leveraging free resources offered by major tech companies and open dialogue within organizations about new tools, with a special mention of the growing integration of artificial intelligence as a tool for efficiency, not to be feared but to be understood and harnessed constructively.

He also noted the generational divide in tech comfort, with young people generally having an advantage, but pointed out that Canadian schools sometimes lag in integrating new tech into classrooms. Rajhans stressed both the individual and institutional responsibility for maintaining a workforce ready for future changes and the importance of continuous learning to prevent stagnation as global competitors accelerate AI and technological education.
